Union Buddies: The Ministry God Planted in Our Hearts
Over the past few months, one of God’s plans for Union has been revealed.
We’ve seen the need in the eyes of parents who long to come to worship but hesitate because they’re unsure how their child with special needs will be supported. We’ve felt it in conversations with families who love the Lord and want to see what Union is all about, but have had to step away from church, because the church environment didn’t exactly support everyone in their household. Right for their family.
God has nudged us to pave a way for these families to be included in our community of believers here at Union, and we are excited to share that Union Buddies has been born—a ministry designed specifically for children with special needs and the families who love them.
Union Buddies will provide one-on-one support for children 3years old through 5th grade during our 8:45 worship service through trained, compassionate volunteers—our “Buddies.” These Buddies will walk alongside children who need a little extra help navigating Sunday mornings, whether through sensory tools, movement breaks, calm spaces, or simply through consistency and care.
Because every child deserves a place in God’s house.
Because every parent deserves to worship without fear or distraction.
Because Jesus made space at the table for everyone—and so will we.
To the families who have felt overlooked, unseen, or worn out from trying to make church work—we see you. And more importantly, God sees you.
Union Buddies is a step of obedience in response to the need He has shown us. We can’t wait to watch what He will do through it.
